Project updates

Update by Joan Tatters

Good Afternoon,

I just thought I would in advance thank the residents of Linden Ave regarding the co-operation when parking their cars. Over the next few weeks we could be working late on site as we need to create a haul road, this means we will have more deliveries than normal throughout the day which could have a knock on effect on the length of our working day. We have promised we will keep our customers informed of our "late nights" and we have committed ourselves to a "gate man" to personally speak to them in advance.

Thank you all once again for your patience it really is appreciated

Morning All,

Just a quick line.......

So the road surfacing on Linden Ave is now complete, whilst it's no bowling green, I'm sure it will help you all when driving in and out of the cul-de-sac.

Update by Joan Tatters

Good Afternoon to the residents of Linden Avenue,

A few weeks ago I visited some of you regarding the condition of the access road to site and how it was affecting your parking arrangements.

We agreed to resurface the road and we are to start the resurfacing tomorrow. This will commence approximately 8am and we will be finished by 5pm so we graciously ask to park your car at an alternative spot during that time. This is just a temporary measure until the works are finished after which we will obviously reinstate everything back to normal.

Thank you again for your co-operation

Hello Everyone,

After being on site this morning I thought I'd share my experience.

The work is progressing really well and the haul road is still in the process of being constructed. The compound is steadily growing and the archaeological find Richard mentioned has been fully checked and verified and with careful consideration and preservation to the road we have now sensitively covered the path, ensuring it's protection and maintaining our heritage.

The team are currently working within the reservoir conducting maintanence work in preparation of the reservoir dimension change and it is quite an eye opener to see all the construction that our customers never see. The team are actually working underground inside the reservoir and it looks a little eerie to me. Have a look at the photos

Update by Richard Johnston

Good afternoon everyone, I attended a site progress meeting with the MMB delivery team this morning in the recently set up site compound, you may of seen the compound grow over the last couple of weeks we are now firmly set up on site.

Programme

Part of the maintenance work involves some demolition work, these works are slightly behind schedule mainly due the fact we have suffered some unexpected delays one being associated with the unearthing of a Roman Road with the reservoir site, this was discovered whilst we were constructing our temporary haul road, our resident archeologist is on site working with Newcastle City county archeologist and Historic England on the next steps, the road was probably associated with the original Hadrians Wall and Roman Fort which was located on the site, as you will probably be aware the Fort was located on the line of Hadrians Wall our reservoir is on the site of the former Fort and is located parallel to the line of the wall, going forward it is likely we will record the find and protect hopefully supplying some useful information about the UNESCO World Heritage Site history.

As for the delays we encountered we are confident this lost time can be made up over the coming months, a revised date for the localised demolition is now going to start on 6th February for three weeks, localised repairs to the reservoir compartment are on going and the temporary haul road will continue to be constructed once the archeological find is verified.

In the meantime meet the project team.

Happy 2017 everyone, I hope you have all had a great Christmas, I returned to work on Tuesday after two long weeks off refreshed and ready for the challenges ahead.

So, over the next few days you will see our construction partner Mott McDonald Bentley and the construction team slowly return to work, they will complete the haul road, set up the site cabins and commence the demolition works, this work is planned to take place through January.

If you do have any issues associated with the works please do not hesitate to contact us via this portal and or the other methods of communication identified within the portal, we thank you for your ongoing patience whilst this works takes place.

Now that we are on site I and the MMB construction will be updating this portal on a more regular basis.

Good Afternoon,

Just to let you know we will be removing the machinery from site tomorrow and the site cabin will be emptied. The new fence and gate will be locked and secured and the roads cleaned............you would think something special is happening.!!!

The site guys will be back 5th January next year, bright and breezy.

So it remains for me to wish all the residents of Fenham especially those in the Linden Avenue area a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful New Year.

Good Morning,

Kevin tells me next week will be the start of further activity around Linden Avenue. He has spoken to some residents to inform them, however, I just thought I would reiterate.

Monday sees the cut through into the fence line by the football ground and Tuesday will be the digging out of the verge for the temporary car parking arrangements by the gate and Wednesday there will be top soil delivered. Until the Christmas break there will an increased vehicle presence as we expect more deliveries and these will include the arrival of plant so please take care.

Thank you in advance of this and don't forget please get in touch if you have any queries.

Update by Joan Tatters

Good Morning,

During the next few days you will notice more of our team around the area. (you can't miss them really in their hi-vis coats)

This week they are preparing the area for a temporary compound in the playing fields therefore, you will see a little more vehicle activity around Linden Avenue so please be more aware.

We have a curfew on the deliveries, they won't arrive until after 9am throughout the project as we are doing our utmost to keep disruption to a minimum.

Don't forget if you have any queries please get in touch we would be happy to hear from you.

We will keep you updated on the project, so watch this space.
