Bedlington Rainwise

We are working together with the community to reduce the risk of future flooding in the Bedlington & Cambois drainage catchment as part of our surface water management programme, Rainwise. The drainage catchment includes – Bedlington / Nedderton / Choppington / Guidepost / Stakeford / Cambois / North Blyth / East Sleekburn / West Sleekburn / Bomarsund

Planned work

Rainwise projects are fundamental to Northumbrian Waters proactive management of flood risk. The flood risk in the Bedlington catchment has been evaluated and prioritised, the Project Team are currently working on notional solutions in two areas of the town.

Chatsworth Drive.

To improve the resilience in the network in Chatsworth Drive consideration is being given to the construction of six surface water basins along with installation of approximately 200m of sewer and establishment of rainwater planters to attenuate the rainwater entering the network from roofed areas.

Westlea.

In the West lea vicinity approximately 900m of new surface water sewer to reduce the load on the existing combined network is being evaluated.
