Project updates

Update by Lynn Preston

Hi Everyone

I just wanted to give you an update on the Corbridge Rainwise project as I know a few people have given feedback on the proposal and asked about when it might start.

At present the construction works are scheduled for 2020.

Prior to that we are working on the option and will be back in touch to seek customer's views before any works are finalised.

Hi Everyone

We now have an option to help manage surface water in the area and are keen to know your thoughts.

So we are going to hold a drop-in session at Corbridge C of E First School on 28th November between 16:30-19:30 where you can come and talk to the project team about the proposal. People who live local to the school will also receive a letter with the details of the session included.

At this stage, nothing is set in stone and funding has still to be approved so please take the opportunity to come along and see what is proposed and share your views!

If you cannot make the date we will publish the option drawings on this webportal so feel free to contact us this way as well.

Hope to see you there.

Update by Lynn Preston

Hi Everyone

Hope you have all enjoyed a great summer.

Just thought it was time to update you on where we are with the project.

As you know, the surveyors were out and they gathered additional information to add into our computer model. We have used the model to have a closer look at the options identified in Ian's earlier study. We are now assessing the feasibility of the options.

I will be back in touch when we have more information to share.

Have a good weekend.

Lynn

Hi Everyone

Just thought it was time to introduce myself give you an update on th Corbridge Rainwise study.

My name is Lynn Preston and I have taken over this phase of the project from Ian Davison. Several high-level options were identified in the initial study and we are now looking at these in a bit more detail.

You may have noticed surveyors out and about taking ground levels - this information is being fed back into our computer model which allows the team to get a better understanding of the sewer network and viability of the options.

Will be back in touch when we have more information to share.

Update by Ian Davison

Hi

It’s been a while since I’ve been in touch and I’d like to give you an update on our progress to date with the Rainwise project in this area.

We’ve completed our data collection in and around Corbridge so now we’re continuing to explore opportunities that allow us to manage rainfall better – by slowing it down or removing it from the pipes, we can help to reduce the risk of flooding in the area when we get a really heavy downpour.

We’ll be looking at things which range from installing sustainable solutions that manage rainfall naturally, to upgrading the existing sewer network. We’ll be keeping you involved at every stage of the project, and if we find there is the opportunity to carry out some work to help reduce the risk of flooding, then we will always seek your views first.

We want you to get involved too – making changes at home, no matter how small, such as installing a water butt, can really help to manage rainwater in a natural environment. For more tips on what you can do, see www.nwl.co.uk/rainwise.

If you have any questions you can get in touch with me using the "Contact us" button at the top of the page or leaving a comment below. Alternatively our customer centre will be happy to speak to you on 0345 717 1100 .

Thanks

Ian

Update by Ian Davison

Hi, my name is Ian Davison and I’m the Project Manager for the investigations we’re carrying out around Corbridge, as part of our Rainwise initiative.

We want to be prepared for the future and over the coming weeks we’ll be out and about in the area, collecting data to fully understand potential flood risk.

This means getting you involved too - we want you to tell us about any surface water issues in the area that affect you during heavy rainfall.

You can leave your comments on this update or get in touch using the ‘contact us’ button at the top of the page.

As always, if we do identify any opportunities for flood risk reduction projects in the area, we will let you know and seek your views on our proposals.
