Project updates

Update by Alice Blackett

At Northumbrian Water, looking after the environment is one of our top priorities. As part of this commitment, we are working with our supply partner, Esh-Stantec to improve the sewer network in land close to Coundon Burn. The works will provide network storage and an adjustment in the current sewer route.

Work is due to commence from March 2025 and will look to be completed in Winter 2025. However, as with all construction projects, unexpected delays can sometimes occur. It’s likely that you will notice an increase in construction traffic and site activity whilst our work is in progress. Please be aware that your water and sewerage services will not be affected during the work.

If you would like to speak to a member of our Project Team, you can telephone our customer contact centre on 0345 717 1100 or via X @nwater_care. Whichever way is best, we’d really like to hear from you.

Update by Colin Short

Hello,

As an update to my original post last year, due to ongoing ecological & environmental surveys/constraints and planning permission requirements, the construction work is now due to commence late Spring/early Summer 2024, again with a duration of around 6 months.

We've done a number of surveys/investigations in your community, but still have a few more to do in Auckland Park including ground investigations, so you may see Northumbrian Water staff and our supply partners Esh-Stantec out and about over the next few months.

We'll keep you updated.

Take care.

Colin

Update by Colin Short

Hello everyone, my name is Colin Short, and I'm Northumbrian Water's Project Manager for this project.

At Northumbrian Water, looking after the environment and reducing the risk of pollution are two of our top priorities. As part of this commitment, we plan to invest in the sewerage network in your area with the replacement of a section of combined sewer and above-ground sewer pipe bridge which are near and cross Coundon Burn, at High Park - North of Bishop Auckland Golf Club.  Additionally, where required, we will be relining or renewing other sections of this sewer where it runs close to Coundon Burn.  I've included a plan on this update showing our proposals.

We hope to start this work in the summer of 2023 and it’s likely to last around six months. As our plans progress, we will be carrying out various surveys and ground investigations in your community and you may see Northumbrian Water staff and our supply partners, Esh-Stantec out and about over the next few months.

We'll be working closely with the community, and will be providing various updates, but we'd really like to hear from you if you have any queries or concerns over any part of this work.

Take care everyone.

Colin
