LOOKING AFTER THE ENVIRONMENT AND REDUCING THE RISK OF POLLUTION ARE TWO OF OUR TOP PRIORITIES. AS PART OF THIS COMMITMENT, WE PLAN TO INVEST IN THE SEWERAGE NETWORK TO UPGRADE OUR EXISTING ASSETS.
As part of this commitment, Northumbrian Water and our framework partners Esh-Stantec plan to invest in the sewerage network in your area with the replacement/relining/renewal of a combined sewer and a pipe bridge.
Approximately 330m of combined sewer west of an existing pipe bridge (an above-ground sewer crossing a watercourse) west of the A688/Park Head Hotel, Coundon, will be upsized and laid on a slightly different route. The existing pipe bridge is likely to be removed and replaced with a smaller pipe bridge further west. Additionally, approximately 1.1km of combined sewer further west will be either relined or renewed.
In advance of the actual pipelaying work, various surveys will be needed to assist in the design process.
We plan to start pipelaying work in June next year and expect that the works will be complete in November 2023, but it’s likely full reinstatement may have to be done during Spring 2024. However, as with all large scale construction projects, unexpected delays can sometimes occur.
