GENERAL PROJECT

Crookhall Sewage Treatment Works – WINEP Phosphorous Removal

As part of the Water Industry National Environmental Programme (WINEP), we will be installing a chemical dosing plant (ferric sulphate and sodium hydroxide) to enable the site to meet the forthcoming phosphorous discharge consent of 0.9 mg/l, which will apply from April 2025. The improvement works will cost around £1.5m, and is one of 27 sites within the NWG region to receive this upgrade. Phosphorous is a nutrient and can cause algae to grow in watercourses, reducing biodiversity and river water quality. Our works will help to improve the quality of the downstream watercourses.

Update by Sarah Jayne Parvin

Good morning,

As we approach the weekend we wanted to let you know our fencing contractor Staurt Marleys will be arriving on Saturday, to errect some stock proof fencing along the field adjacent to Crookhall STW to prevent the cows getting onto the access road. This is expected to take 2 days with minimal nosie and impact on the resdents.

It looks like the sun is set to stay with us this weekend, I hope you enjoy it whatever you do.

Thanks

Sarah
