Project updates

Update by Gabrielle Ward

Good Afternoon,

I thought I would pop on and say hello, and give you an update on how work is progressing on site.

The new Motor Control Centre (MCC) base walls are ongoing with the concrete pour planned this week. Once this has been completed, we will then be able to backfill externally of the structure and progress the superstructure.

The tertiary area earthworks and access road are now complete allowing us to commence the civils infrastructure.

Over the next few weeks our planned works are as followed:-

1. Demolition of the existing inlet screen, we will be installing a temporary bypass to maintain the flow into the works, this then allows us to easier erect the MCC building and complete the associated works around.

2. Demolition of the abandoned inlet channel, this will allow us to construct the proposed new inlet works over the coming months.

I have added some photos of what has been happening on site since the last update.

If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment below.

Thanks everyone,

Gaby

Good evening

I thought id give you a quick update of this weeks activities on site as follows:-

1. Earthworks have continued to excavate the mound area to where the new tertiary plant will be located, we have removed quite a bit of material from this area so it has taken somewhat a different shape from what was previously there, we will be continuing with this operation for another week to start forming the new stone road & formation ready for the new slabs.

2. We have carried out the diversion of an existing water main feed into the works which was located under the footprint of the proposed new MCC building, next week in this area we will be commencing the large excavation to construct the reinforced base & walls, this will take a few weeks to complete in this particular location of the site.

Please note that next week will see some activity with wagon movements into and out of the site delivering merchant materials, shoring and concrete so expect to see an increase in wagons in the area.

Finally myself and Gabby our liason officer paid a visit to the proprietor of Eleanors Byre nearby the Sewerage works to discuss the works that we are carrying out, i must say we really enjoyed the latte with Banana & Blueberry cake, if your in the area i highly recommend you try it.

I hope you have a great weekend and have attached a couple of photos for your interest

Update by Paul Davison

Good morning,

I'm pleased to confirm that construction work to upgrade Embleton treatment works will begin on Monday 19 July 2021 and expect the work to take up to 10 months to complete, however, as with all large-scale construction projects, unexpected delays can sometimes occur.

The sewerage treatment works is located to the south of Embleton village adjacent to Spitalford Bridge. Given the location of the existing treatment works, we don’t expect significant customer disruption, however, there may be a noticeable increase in construction traffic through surrounding villages between the A1 and our site during the construction period.

Advanced traffic management signs will be erected along the Embleton to Craster road alerting road users of construction work. While the vast majority of construction plant and deliveries can access and leave the site without impacting on traffic movements, there may be occasions when we will need to use ‘stop / go’ controls to safely access the site with abnormal loads.

Please be assured that we are working closely with our partners to do all that we can to minimise any disruption to you and your community throughout the work. Typical working hours will be Monday to Friday, between 8.00am and 5.00pm.

Regards Paul
