Esh Winning Sewer

Northumbrian Water are working in your are to improve our sewer network to reduce the risk of pollution incidents in Esh Winning. The Esh Winning sewer runs in close proximity to the Priest Burn and, at times of heavy rainfall, it can present a risk of pollution to the river. The solution we identified to this includes the installation of a new pumping station in the field opposite South Terrace and a new pipeline along the main road into the sewage treatment works.

Update by Becky Gartland

Good afternoon all,

A brief update this week as works have continued within the Pumping Station works area following my last update from Monday.

Excavations have been carried out this week to enable the install the shoring from the Pumping Station towards the new manhole chamber as well as further inlet pipework being installed which will continue into next week.

Work continued on the installation of the Rising Main from the roadside adjacent to South Terrace to the new PCC Valve Chamber as well as welding operations in this area.

Further core drilling operations have been carried out within the pumping station in preparation for the pipework to be installed which is due to commence from Monday 8th November.

Have a lovely weekend!
