Esh Winning Sewer

Northumbrian Water are working in your are to improve our sewer network to reduce the risk of pollution incidents in Esh Winning. The Esh Winning sewer runs in close proximity to the Priest Burn and, at times of heavy rainfall, it can present a risk of pollution to the river. The solution we identified to this includes the installation of a new pumping station in the field opposite South Terrace and a new pipeline along the main road into the sewage treatment works.

Update by Becky Gartland

Good morning and a very Happy New Year to you all!

I hope you had a lovely time celebrating over the Christmas period.

Our site team have recommenced works from Tuesday 4th January where you may have seen them accepting deliveries of plant equipment and machinery in order for us to continue with our works.

Here's an overview of the work that was completed on site last week and what can be expected this week:

Following the installation, testing was carried out from the Pumping Station back to the Sewerage Treatment Works to check the flows which were all working well prior to them being turned this week.
  • Joinery work has continued in the way of cutting and installing formwork in preparation for the concrete upstands of the Valve Chamber and the Pumping Station these works will continue to progress throughout the week.
  • Work to excavate and install the surface water drainage has also commenced last week, ie. road gullies and associated pipework. Preparations have also been carried out with regards the Kerb lines for the new tarmac access road which will continue across this week.

As always if you have any queries regarding our work, please let me know.
