Esh Winning Sewer

Northumbrian Water are working in your are to improve our sewer network to reduce the risk of pollution incidents in Esh Winning. The Esh Winning sewer runs in close proximity to the Priest Burn and, at times of heavy rainfall, it can present a risk of pollution to the river. The solution we identified to this includes the installation of a new pumping station in the field opposite South Terrace and a new pipeline along the main road into the sewage treatment works.

Update by Christine Taylor

Good afternoon,

I just thought I would pop on here and say thank you to the wonderful site team at Esh Winning.

This year, we at Esh Stantec decided to collect toys to donate to the Laffs4kids charity, as a friend of mine at Northumbrian Water has supported them for many years.  When the team heard what we were doing they immediately put their hands in their pocket.  This morning I went to collect the cash to go shopping for the toys.

Thank you guys, as always your generousity is very much appreciated.  I will spend your money wisely and keep you updated of our charity work.

Apologies for the delay in getting your weekly update posted.

Last week the site team have continued on both sections of works as follows:-

Pumping Station Works Area

Works have continued with the back filling operations of the PCC Valve Chamber along with the removal of the shoring equipment, we have also continued with the excavation & shoring from the Pumping Station to the Valve Chamber in preparation of the Ductile Iron Pipe work between the two structures ie the Mechanical installation.

Ground reprofiling works have been carried out in preparation for the excavation and installation of the Pumping Station inlet pipe work, which commenced yesterday by excavating towards proposed new MH11

Durham Road Highway Drainage Works

Last week the site team continued with the removal of the trench box shoring and installation of foamed concrete/trench backfill from new MH07 to the Rising Main 90 degree bend which transmits onto the site adjacent to South Terrace, we have also carried permanent tarmac reinstatements to the above, so hopefully we should be able to remove the 2 Way traffic lights during the course of this week once we have cleared and tidied up.

This week we plan to continue excavating the Rising Main pipe work from the highway road edge to the actual newly constructed Valve Chamber followed by a secondary full test once again back to MH07 within the Highway.
