Esh Winning Sewer

Northumbrian Water are working in your are to improve our sewer network to reduce the risk of pollution incidents in Esh Winning. The Esh Winning sewer runs in close proximity to the Priest Burn and, at times of heavy rainfall, it can present a risk of pollution to the river. The solution we identified to this includes the installation of a new pumping station in the field opposite South Terrace and a new pipeline along the main road into the sewage treatment works.

Good morning everyone,

Please see attached some images of our progress on site so far.

The shaft of the pumping station is almost complete with the last remaining rings to be installed by the middle of next week. Once all rings are in place there will be a concrete plug installed along with the concrete base within the structure. This will be carried out over the coming weeks.

In terms of the drainage installation within the carriageway of South Terrace, we are continuing to progress well with a third of the overall pipework having now been installed. As mentioned yesterday the reinstatements of this initial section will be completed on Saturday 10th July ready for the traffic managment to be moved along to the next section of carriageway on Monday 12th July.

Good afternoon,

What a great result for England last night!

In the meantime I have just received an update from the site team regarding the tarmac reinstatements within the two-way traffic lights currently positioned on South Terrace.  Due to the typical wet British weather earlier in the week the site team will be required to work over the coming weekend.  In order to keep to the programme for the traffic management to be moved along to the next section on Monday the tarmac reinstatements in our current working area will be completed on Saturday 10th July.

If anyone has any further questions relating to this section of works, please feel free to contact me.

Thank you

Good morning,

Lets start the week off with a progress update on how things are going on site.

The team are continuing with the drainage installation on South Terrace and have reached the location of where the second manhole chamber is to be built which will be happening over the coming few days. Following this we will be starting to reinstate this section of carriageway to prepare for moving the traffic management along to the next section.

Shaft operations for the pumping station are progressing well and we have now installed segment 6 of 13. Excavation operations will continue this week as further segments of the shaft are installed.

Fingers crossed the weather picks up later in the week!

If you have any questions regarding works this week, please get in touch.

Thank you

Afternoon everyone,

I hope you've all had a lovely week.

I just thought I would provide you with a quick update on how the works are going. This week the site team have been installing the initial section of pipework from the Sewage Treatment Works. From next week you will see the traffic management switch over to the opposite carriageway whilst they continue with this work.

You may have also noticed some fencing being erected around the entrance to the new pumping station on South Terrace. This is to reduce the impact of noise to the local community when works commence on Monday 21 June to install the shaft which will form the pumping station.

If you have any queries regarding the works please comment on this post and I will get back to you.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Thank you

Becky
