Update by Chris Reay

Good afternoon,

NWL are pleased to report that the 4km of 400mm pipe has now been installed from Ferryhill Reservoir to Chilton Lane, we are currently commissioning this main ready for it to be put in supply, when this main is all connected up and in supply, this will enable the final elements of the work on this scheme to take place. The renewal of the 11” Cast Iron main and the outstanding connection works.

Once again I would like to thank the customers in the Ferryhill area for their patience and understanding, during the completion of these works.

Regards,

Brian Hardy

Afternoon,

We would like to inform you’s of the work taking place in Ferryhill Station on Chilton Lane, the work will need to be done with a road closure in place to safeguard the workforce, this closure has been agreed with Durham County Council from Wednesday 8/7 2020 until 7/8/2020, we are confident that the works will be completed within 10 days, as we appreciate the disruption the road closure will cause.

The next section of works that is planned is at Cleves Avenue, the health and safety of our teams, customers and communities is our top priority. so we’ll be using temporary traffic lights from Hemsley Close  to Linden Road to keep everyone safe.  These lights will move as our work progresses.

Thank you for your time, continued support and patience.

Kind regards,

Bryan Hardy

Morning residents of Ferryhill,

Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic accross the country, we are now only carrying out essential works throughout the region following instruction from our government. This is to protect the public and our employees throughout this challenging time. This now means the Ferryhill job has now been suspended until further notice, but firstly the site will be closed down and left in a safe condition.

Thank you for your understanding and patience,

Brian Hardy

 Good morning,

The 400mm open cut will be installed from Cleves Cottages  to the bottom of Duncombe Bank by the end of this week.

Hopefully we will have the road closure removed by Friday 13th March. However, we will have to revert back to 2 way traffic lights to enable us to pressure test, sample and tie in after the 3 day sample has returned positively. This will give us a total of 1,930m of pipe in the ground.

Once all the reinstatement is complete on the road closure works at Cleves Cottages, we will start  at the bottom of Duncombe Banke and work our way down to the jnc of Chilton Lane and then down Chilton Lane to the south end of Clifton Gardens. – approx 300m. Major road traffic management will be required around this location.

Once the 300m have been installed, this will leave approx. 660m of 400mm left to do from Arthur Terrace to the Surtees Arms – again Major RTM

The smaller distribution main renewals on Chilton Lane has begun from the Eldon Arms to the Surtees Arms. This work should take a minimum of 4 weeks to complete. There is a lot of unknowns about mains isolations in this area so work may be slower than envisaged.

The work on Laurel Road has also begun with 700m already installed and a further 1km still to do. Again, all works in this location will be under traffic management which is limited to 300m stretches via council instruction.

Thank you again for your patience and co-operation as we carry out these works in your area.

 Regards,

 Fastflow

Dear Customer

Improvement work to upgrade the water network in your area

You may remember that we wrote to you in September 2019 to let you know details of essential work we are carrying out to upgrade the water mains in your area.

This work is being carried out by Fastflow Pipeline Services to make sure you continue to receive excellent quality tap water in the future. This involves the construction of a new water main from Ferryhill Service Reservoir past the junction of Wood Lane all the way through to Chilton Lane.

Work will now begin on Duncombe Bank from Monday 13 January 2019 to Friday 28 February 2020.

During this time it will be necessary to install a rolling series of temporary traffic lights between Hemsley Court and Walker Terrace, 4 way traffic lights will be used at the junction with Linden Road to keep traffic flowing and safeguard the workforce carrying out the work.

We will do everything we can to keep disruption to a minimum however there may be times when you may not be able to park directly outside of your property. Whilst the work is underway you may also notice some increased vehicular movement and noise.

If your water supply is discolored please run your cold kitchen tap for up to 30 minutes. If you have a water meter, please let us know as you may receive an allowance on your bill.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and understanding in advance of this essential work and please be assured that we’ll do everything we can to minimise disruption.

Alternatively, you can telephone our customer contact centre on 0345 717 1100 or tweet us @nwater_care to speak to a member of our Project Team. Whichever way is best, we’d really like to hear from you.

Yours faithfully

Good morning,

The major renewal of the 400mm water main is progressing well, we have completed the section of works from Wood Lane down Cleves Avenue towards Duncombe Bank. The 2nd stage of the works will progress from Wood Lane back towards Ferryhill Reservoir. We are hoping these works will have less impact on our customers in the run up to Christmas, than continuing down Duncombe Bank.

The mains renewal works are also progressing well in the back lanes of the properties off Chilton Lane. We appreciate the work has been very intrusive for our customer’s and would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their continued patience and understanding while, we carry out these essential works.

Regards,

Brian Hardy
