Forrest Park

We are investing over £1,000,000 to improve and extend the sewer network in Aycliffe to support Durham County Council’s ongoing Forrest Park development.

Update by Joan Tatters

Good Afternoon Everyone,

It's about time you had a further update.....

You may recall in January, Paul Davison (Northumbrian Water Project Manager) wrote to you informing you of a planned road closure on Heighington Lane. At the time we expected it to be complete within 8 weeks, however due to continued difficulties and recent weather this section of work has been delayed. We now anticipate the full road closure to remain in place between the 3M factory and St Andrews Way until Friday 1 June 2018. Existing signed diversions via A167 and St Andrews Way will remain in place for the duration.

On Monday 16 April, we will be introducing 2-way temporary traffic lights on St Andrews Way. This has allowed additional workforce to progress with drainage work along St Andrews Way heading towards Millennium Way and we expect to be complete by late June 2018.

Elsewhere, the installation of pipework along the A167 and St Andrews Way is progressing well within the existing lane closure and we expect to be in a position to remove this traffic management by mid to late May 2018.

On Tuesday 17th April we will be working directly on the new pumping station to lift in the new cover slab, the pump and pipework installation will follow as well as the excavation for a new chamber to house valves.

So a lot has happened and there is still little more to come!

Please watch this space as Paul and I will keep you up to speed with our progress.

Once again thank you for your patience during this essential work, we really appreciate it and please don't forget if you want us to answer any of your questions please feel free to get in touch.
