The construction phase of this project is now complete.
There may still be updates, so the project will remain here. We are still monitoring the project and will reply to any comments. So if you have any questions please feel free to comment or contact us here.
We are investing over £1,000,000 to improve and extend the sewer network in Aycliffe to support Durham County Council’s ongoing Forrest Park development.
Once construction is underway the typical working hours would be Monday to Friday, between 8.00am and 6.00pm. If required, work may also be carried out between 8.00am and 1.00pm on a Saturday. We will notify you when weekend working may be required.
We have no plans to disrupt your water supply while we work ON this project. In the unlikely event that the team accidently disrupts the water supply, our clean water response team will be notified immediately and emergency repairs quickly undertaken.
With most construction work it is inevitable that there will be some disruption in the immediate vicinity of the work there will also be an increase in heavy traffic in the area, with the vehicles of the working sites and site compounds. Traffic management will be required in order to adequately segregate the working areas from the live carriageways although disruption will be minimised as far as possible.
Newton Park / Forrest Park Area
We will be accessing working areas either side of Mcdonalds’ Restaurant and Newton Park Service Station while we construct a pumping station and install transfer pipework.
To minimise disruption we will be using trenchless technology between the two working areas to install the necessary pipework.
All businesses at newton park will be open as usual and access maintained at all times
A167, ST ANDREWS WAY AND HEIGHINGTON LANE
The construction of pipework along the A167 and st andrews way up to the round- about with millenium way will be installed using trenchless technolgy utilising traffic management (lane closure). Again, access to businesses off st andrews way should be unaffected.
The remainder of pipework along st andrews way and heightington lane will be installed using open cut methods. Access to businesses and properties may be distrupted for short periods of time while we cross access points.
Please let us know if you, or any family, friends or neighbours will require additional assistance for access or anything else while this work is completed by calling 0345 717 1100.

The site will be operated by our framework partner Mott Macdonald Bentley an experienced contractor working to tight health and safety standards. Working areas will be securely fenced off from public access at all times.
We do ask that everyone respects the site fencing, signing, guarding and instructions of our team when required for your own safety.
The new sewers will be buried underground. Reinstatement of highways will be agree with Durham County Council and will be undertaken in line with national highway standards.
The sewage pumping station is a buried structure however a grass reinforced access track and road side kiosk will be required to maintain and operation the pumping station.
The construction work will involve the use of large machinery, road cutting equipment, digging up ground, pouring concrete and working with granular materials which may result in some dust, vibration and noise. the site team will do everything they can to minimise any inconvenience caused by this and will make sure that the work is carried out safely.
The work will involve digging up and transporting soil and other excavated materials to storage or for disposal which may cause dirt on the roads.
The site team will employ a road cleaning specialist with mechanical road sweepers which will be used as required to maintain the cleanliness of affected roads.
We do not except our works to affect residential parking or access to driveways along Bickford Terrace.
