GENERAL PROJECT

Hepscott Sewage Treatment Works

This investment at Hepscott sewage treatment works is to improve storm storage and flow control through the process. Our sewage treatment works aids NWL in improving the quality of rivers and coastal waters for the benefit of people, the environment and wildlife.

Planned Work

At Hepscott sewage treatment works we will be redirecting storm flows which in the current configuration go directly to the river when flows to the site increase due to wet weather. Our plan is to repurpose an existing disused concrete structure to create a storm storage tank. This will allow us to retain flows within the works for full treatment after short rain fall events and give primary treatment to flows during extended rain fall events. We will not be limiting flows into the sewage treatment works.

Work will start on 5th October 2020 and will be complete by 30th March 2021. The majority of the work will be taking place within the existing site boundary, however, we would like to improve the access track into the works to ensure it does not degrade further and it is available for safe public use during and after the project.
