Killingworth & Longbenton

Together with our project partners, the Environment Agency and North Tyneside Council, we are investing over £5 million to manage surface water in the Killingworth and Longbenton areas of North Tyneside. This work will increase the capacity of the combined sewer thereby reducing the risk of flooding during heavy rainfall. The work is to be completed in 3 phases; Longbenton High School and Benton Green & Cemetery, Forest Hall & Killingworth Moor and finally Killingworth Lake. Phase 1 and 2 are now completed and the work around Killingworth Lake started in Summer 2018.

Hi Everyone

Thanks to Bobby, who has provided a further update on our progress this week.

We're working hard to get the job done and making great progress! On Station Road where we have driven The Twin Pipes under the road we have lined one of the pipes, with the other to be lined at the start of next week. We are also moving along nicely with Manholes 3 and 4.

The pipework in the park area is also moving along well as we progress from Manhole 5 to Manhole 6.

And finally work has started on the footpath and planting works within the Lakeside area.

Next week we will be making a return to the Cemetery to complete some remedial works there. We don't expect this to cause a great deal of disruption to users of the cemetery, but you may see some of our guys around for the week.
