Kirklevington Sewage Treatment Works

Together with our supply partner, Interserve, we plan to carry out work between 7th January 2019 to 29th March 2019 This essential work is part of an investment programme of over £2 million and will include essential work refurbishing the Sewage Treatment Works at Kirklevington. This will improve the quality of the wastewater treatment. The STW will remain fully operational while we work on the site and there will be no impact on the waste water service we provide to you. Construction traffic will need access to the STW and utilise the highway during this period however access will not be affected and we do not anticipate traffic control We are working closely with our supply partner to make sure any disruption is kept to a minimum. If you are going to be directly affected by our work, our site team will let you know in advance. Typical working hours will be Monday to Friday, between 8.00am and 6.00pm. You may see some increase in vehicle movement. We'd really like to hear from you if you have any queries so please get in touch using the 'Contact us' button at the top of the page or leave a comment below. Ben Gilbert NWL Project Manager

Project updates

Update by Brian Hall

Hello everyone

We are busy on site today fitting handrails in the new working area

Tomorrow we will have wagons on site taking away the site cabin and the skip, after that we will not be on site until NEDL are ready to put the new power supply in. I will keep you posted on that. Thank you again for your cooperation and patience when we have large vehicles coming to site

Best regards

Brian

Hello everyone

We are still at site although there is no activity currently going on and will be none next week either. We are now waiting for the NEDL to give us a date to come onto site to put a new electric cable link in so we can get everything working for commissioning. We will have staff coming on site in the next couple of weeks to put some hand rails in at the new working area. Most of the reinstatement has been done and the grass is taking nicely. I will update again when we are back at site. Have a great weekend

Hello everyone

Much of the work on site is now completed. We have been doing more civil work this week laying concrete for paths and making the land ready for reinstatement. Next week will be busy with sub contractors on site testing the wash water and finishing the mechanical and electrical work on the new filter. Our plant equipment left site today and the only other delivery we are expecting is a replacement skip sometime next week. We are still looking at leaving site at the end of this month. Thanks again for your patience

Hello everyone

The sun is shining and the site is looking a lot better this week with more building work in place and the new filter installed. We will be doing some civil work next week putting in the new footpath and concreting on site. We will also start the electrical work on the filter. Because of the delays I reported last week the project has had to be extended until the end of next month (April) I can only apologise for this, however there will not be any noticeable increase in traffic as we have no major deliveries scheduled now apart from a couple of stone deliveries when we finish off to reinstate the site.

Have a great weekend

Update by Brian Hall

Hi everyone

We have almost completed the base for the filter. For the next few days we will be concentrating on metal work, constructing the cages and framework for the filter to be seated on.

The filter should be on site sometime next week and we will be able to start electrical work.

Because of supply issues we may have to extend the completion date of the project slightly, I will update you all on this next week.

Hello everyone

over the past couple of weeks we have been concentrating on civil construction and clearing the site. This week we have started brickwork and have build a grit wall (see photos) (also note that is a glove next to the concrete not a hand sticking out!)

We will be continiuing with building work over the next week or so getting ready for the new screen coming in so will keep you updated as we go

Hello everyone, work is continuing well at site with concreting and civil work large done we are now installing pipework and clearing spoil from the site.

Thank you all for parking clear of the turning area, that has been a great help while getting large vehicles on and off site. We really appreciate your help here.

There will be a couple of large vehicles later this week on and off site to remove spoil we will try to reduce any disruption by keeping visits by them away from early morning and late afternoon when people are coming and going.

Thanks again for your cooperation during these works

Hello everyone

Very busy at the site at the moment, new kiosks have been installed and we are excavating for the new screens to be installed

Could we ask all residents to try to avoid parking in the hammerhead area outside the entrance to the site? we are having deliveries most days now and they wagons cant turn to get in the site if there are cars parked there.

Thank you all for your consideration
