GENERAL PROJECT

Marske Sewage Treatment Works

We want to let you know details of essential work we will be carrying out at Marske Sewage Treatment Works (STW), which will include repair and refurbishment works to a treatment basin within the STW.

Update by Ben Gilbert

Hello everyone.

This week we have continued to make really good progress with our planned works, removing debris from our basin and cleaning it ready for the next stage. This will involve undertaking repair works to the mechanical parts in the basin called decant arms, and is the focus of our project’s next few weeks.

This picture shows one of our these decant arms – which is key in helping to separate solids from treated effluent in this part of our treatment process. It shows the huge amount of ‘rags’ which are non-degradable/inorganic items which are flushed down the toilet. These have collected on the arm and are one of the reasons we need to undertake this project.

Remember – “Only paper, pee and poo go down the loo”!

Thank you for your patience and co-operation while we carry out this vital work. If you have any comments or concerns, please comment below or use the contact us button at the top of the page.
