Monks Wood, North Shields Surface Attenuation

We are currently on site adjacent to Beach Road. Our scheme is to separate surface water flows from the combined sewerage system and store the excessive flows during storms. To do this, we are constructing new surface water and combined sewers together with a series of cascading basins in which to hold back the flows until the storm subsides and the existing sewerage system can accept the storm water.

Update by Simon Bright

We've have quite a productive week since its been dry all week. The main drainage is right upto Whitehouse Lane. For the safety of the public we'll have to close this path and re-open the path at Ludlaw Avenue. A pedestrian diversion will be in place via Ludlaw Avenue. The footpath at Ludlaw Avenue is being reinstated which we expect to have open by Thursday next week. Balfour Beattie Utilities have been working with us to install electric ducts in this footpath so it doesn't need to be closed again at later date. The large diameter overspill manhole next to the school is almost finished, the shoring will all be removed today.

We are almost a point where we can start the basins now we have the inlet structure cast, so this will be happening in the next couple of weeks.
