Murton Flooding

Together with our supply partner, ESH-MWH, we have undertaken a detailed study of the sewer network to establish the cause of flooding in the area. We want to keep you informed about our investigations and work we are considering in the Woods Terrace area.

Project updates

Update by Christine Taylor

Good morning,

Although we have finished our work in your area, we at Esh-MWH and Northumbrian Water, along with our collaborative partners, wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.  So what better way than to release some Christmas cheer through a festive video.

I hope you all enjoy watching this, as much as the team did pulling it together.

Merry Christmas

Another thank you to Ribbon Acadamy for there help with our Christmas message.

I have posted a questionnaire on this site and we want to invite everyone to complete this to let us know how we performed.

Good Afternoon

We are now very close to leaving site with all the drainage works in use and only the final parts of the new access roads to complete. We will be on site on Monday to finish the access road followed by tarmac surfacing on Tuesday.

I'd like to thank everyone for their patience and I hope that we have provided a lasting legacy with the flood protection and work in the community.

Thankyou to everyone who made it happen.

Have a good weekend.

Hi Everyone

We are getting very close to finishing now! We've downgraded the size of the compound again and in the coming days will be continuing to clear away and tidy up. The access track is now removed and will be reinstated in due course.

I've attached a photo taken this morning

Have a lovely weekend

Hi Everyone

Work at Murton is moving on. This week we've been continuing to remove the access road within our compound. I've attached a couple of photos taken today - if you look closely enough, you can see the change in colour from sand to dirt near the top of the slope. That's an indication of how far we've gone, not too much to do now!

HI Everyone

What glorious weather! I've been to site today to get a progress update from Steve, and things are moving on quickly now! We've finished our work in the Wellfield Road area and permanently reinstated the footpath there. You'll notice that the road in that area is still temporarily reinstated, it has been agreed that council will resurface the roads in this area when they finish their nearby work.

The cabin has been downsized and the access road we constructed within the compound will be removed very soon.

We'll soon be finished and move off site!

I've attached a few pictures of the compound area, Wellfield Road free from TM and cones and the resurfaced footpath.

Enjoy the weather this weekend,

Tony

Update by Anthony Birkett

HI Everyone

As you will know, our sub-contractors are currently resurfacing the roads in Stephens Road, Gowland Square, Metcalf Crescent and Huntley Avenue. We expected this to take at least the full week, but the good news is that we are working ahead of schedule so should finish the reinstatements by close of business tomorrow. I've been out and about informing resindents in Huntley Avenue and Metcalf Crescent that we will be working in their road tomorrow - earlier than exected. Here's a copy of the letter I've distributed. Can I please ask that residents in these street refrain from parking in the road from 08:00 tomorrow morning(13/06/18).

I've attached a few photos of the completed reinstatements in Stephens Road and Gowland Square.

Hi

Over the last week or so, I've been trying my best to speak to all residents affected by the reinstatements on Stephens Road. I'm on site now and can confirm that work started this morning as planned. Our contractors will be working all week to resurface the length of Stephens Road and Metcalf Crescent. Here's a copy of the letter that I distrbuted providing more details about timescales.

Thanks for your continued patience
