Project updates

Update by Anthony Birkett

HI Everyone

Just a quick one to confirm that the reinstatements in the area have now been completed. We've seeded the area where we constructed the tank and also by the entrance to the estate.

We are aware that there are stones present in the soil, so will keep an eye on this and take action where applicable.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we completed the works.

Enjoy the weekend

Tony

Hi everyone,

Some of our customers will of received letters advising that we have left the area of Dene Close.  Within the letter was a questionnaire asking how we did.

We thought we would post the questionnaire on here to allow others to complete it and feedback.

For every questionnaire completed and returned to us, we'll donate £1 to WaterAid.

Hi Everyone

I was out around Ovingham last week delivering Northumbrian Water's closure letter to those around our working area.

Work started in October 2017 on the first stage of our project to reduce flood risk from the sewer network in the Dene Close and Piper Road vicinity.

We are pleased to advise our customers that this stage of our works is now substantially complete.

In Spring 2018 we will return to cultivate and seed the areas where we worked. There is a risk that the existing bulbs at the entrance to the estate may not flower this year due to our works.  There are plans to replace any damaged bulbs in this area in Autumn 2018. We will continue to monitor the establishment of these areas over the spring / summer months and would hope the grass will be fully established by the Autumn. All footpaths within our working area have been fully reinstated.

We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the residents for your patience and support throughout this work. ESH-MWH would appreciate feedback regarding the performance of the site team.  Feel free to email the Customer Service department at nwl.customer@esh.uk.com.

This signals the end of our work in your area. Please find a copy of this letter here.

It was great to have Matt, a budding engineer, visit our site here at Ovingham and also at Horsley recently.

He contacted us on here to find out more about the work we're doing in partnership with Esh Group and Interserve, and we showed him around the sites and how it all works.

He sent us this fab video of his day. Fantastic work Matt!

Hi all

I hope you have had a great Christmas and New Year.

Esh/MWH will be recommencing work today at the Piper Road / Castle View junction installing of a relief sewer to increase the network capacity in this vicinity. Site fencing will be erected and the top soil stripped on the working area. We would hope to have this sewer constructed by the end of the month.

Before the break Esh/MWH were working in the Dene Close area tiding up the site, opening footpaths and top soiling the open spaces. A small area was left fenced off, this will be utilised as a small compound for the works to be undertaken at the entrance to the estate.

On completion we will remove all site fencing and reinstate the highways and footpaths affected by the works. It is out of season for the final cultivation and seeding of the open spaces, we will return early in the spring to complete this reinstatement. In the meantime the topsoil will be returned and we will monitor these areas over the interim period.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you again for your ongoing patience and support. Simon will keep you up to date as we work towards the completion of this Rainwise project.

Thanks

Ian

Hi

Just about finished before our Christmas break. All footpaths have been re-opened and the verges topsoiled where we can. We'll be leaving a small section fenced off during our break as we will need this area to use when we return in January to do a small section on the Piper Road / Castle View Junction. We plan to  have all of this work finished by the end of January leaving only the cultivation and seeding of the grassed areas which is programed for early spring.

Happy Christmas

Simon

Update by Simon Bright

Hi

Along the footpath from Dene Close to Wheatfield Close progress has been slow again this week as expected, however, we have now completed this section of drainage which is now all functioning 100% in conjunction with the tank to provide the required flood prevention which has finally put a smile on Vinnie's face. Next week we'll be preparing and reinstating, the footpaths and topsoil areas.

Hi

It slow going at Dene Close with the weather and unchartered services slowing us down. As you can see from the photos there are services everywhere we dig, Vinnie and Bernie will persist in spite of the difficulty and hopefully get the connecting drain line in by the end of next week. As mentioned earlier this week, we are trying to minimise the mud on the road with regular visits with the road brush.
