WE ARE WORKING WITH COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE NORTH EAST TO REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF RAINWATER THAT ENTERS THE SEWER NETWORK, THROUGH OUR SURFACE WATER MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME, RAINWISE.
THIS WILL HELP TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FLOODING TO HOMES AND BUSINESSES IN FUTURE, AND PROTECT OUR ENVIRONMENT FROM FLOODING.
Over the coming months, we will investigate potential flood risk in areas of Ovingham.
We will be investigating where surface water (rainwater from roofs and roads) goes during heavy rainfall, so that we can manage it effectively, and sharing ideas with you about how you too can manage rainwater around your home.
In some situations, to improve the performance of the drainage system it may be necessary for us to upgrade the existing network.
We have identified an opportunity to carry out a small scale project in Ovingham and are developing proposals for a flood reduction measure within the identified area.
Please see ‘Planned works’ for more information about this suggested solution and to have your say.
We will share further information about our plans with you as soon as we have finalised our approach.
Local knowledge is very important for us to understand where surface water goes and if there are any surface water issues in your area that you would like to discuss with us, you can let us know using this portal. Alternatively, please call us on 0345 717 1100.
