We are investing £500,000 on essential maintenance work to our Sewerage Network.
Typical working hours will be Monday to Friday, between 8.00am and 6.00pm. If required, work may also be carried out between 8.00am and 1.00pm on a Saturday. We will notify you in advance when weekend working may be required.
We do not plan to disrupt your water supply while work is carried out on this project. In the highly unlikely event that the team accidently disrupts the water supply, our clean water response team will be notified immediately and emergency repairs planned.
We will be using trenchless technology to keep disruption to a minimum. However there will be some disruption in the immediate vicinity of our working areas where we require access to the pipe. At these locations, signing and guarding with some minor traffic management will be required, in order to segregate the working areas from pedestrians and traffic.
Access to your property will be maintained at all times and any disruption will be kept to a minimum. If you are likely to be directly affected by our work, our site team will let you know in advance.
We will keep our community portal updated with key information about progress. For notifications about project news and progress updates please sign up to the community portal here.
Any customers or businesses that will be directly affected by our work will be notified in advance of the work starting by our site team.
For information and advice please contact us on 0345 717 1100 or log onto www.nwl.co.uk to chat online or arrange for a call back from our project team to discuss any queries.
The site will be operated by our framework partner Mott Macdonald Bentley an experienced contractor working to tight health and safety standards. Working areas will be securely fenced off from public access at all times.
We do ask that everyone respects the site fencing, signing, guarding and instructions of our team when required for your own safety.
The sewer will remain buried underground. Manhole covers will be apparent in the locations where we have constructed our new access manholes. Reinstatement around these areas will be agreed with Durham County Council and returned to the same condition before the work began.
Our maintenance work will involve using machinery that will generate some noise and dust. The site team will do everything they can to minimise any inconvenience caused by this and will make sure that the work is carried out safely.
We work closely with the local council on many matters including bin collections. Please put your bin in the normal place and we will make sure that it is emptied.
