Thanks to Darren who has provided the information for this update:

This week, we have continued with the excavation of the new basin and it is currently around 80% complete. Next week we will start installing the associated drainage before we put down the topsoil and seed, which will start the following week.

We have managed to retain and reuse most of the excavated material from the basin to reprofile part of the land within the grounds of Cleveland Lodge. This equates to approximately 200 wagon loads which would have otherwise been taken off site and disposed of.

Work is also progressing well in the grass verge in Farm Garth where we are installing the large diameter drainage pipes. We expect this work to reach Roseberry Crescent at some point next week and the rolling road closure will begin heading towards Newton Road. As we near the road, it is likely that we will start to encounter various underground services so this may slow our progress a little.

Good afternoon everyone,

I have landed on site this afternoon to find we have taken ownership of a zebra!

As you can see (photo attached) this is obviously a 14 tonne wheeled excavator, which has been painted as a Zebra.  Our site team have lovingly named the zebra as 'Zebedee'.

Zebedee will soon in the streets of Great Ayton carrying out his work, starting in the area of Farm Garth and Roseberry Crescent.

Some residents will have received a letter stating that our works will begin in Farm Garth on Monday 15 April 2019.  On Tuesday 23 April 2019 we will start works in the road of Roseberry Crescent, outside Farm Garth towards Newton Road.  Over the following weeks we will move along towards the junction of Wheatlands.  I have visited or spoke to customers directly impacted by the works, the communication will continue as our works progress.  

I would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we carry out this upgrade to the existing drainage network.

Good afternoon everyone,

The new drainage network installation within Cleveland Lodge grounds are going well, our operatives are continuing to install the 750mm diameter surface water pipes from our first underground trenchless drive pit adjacent to Newton Road, towards our second drive pit which is adjacent to Farm Garth.

The underground Trenchless/Auger boring works are now complete as of today, both trenchless operations have gone very well, Darren Whale our site manager and Greg Patterson site engineer have  been working very closely with our specialist sub contractor Pipeline Drillers with the line and level for the underground trenchless installations, with site leveling operations being almost millimeter perfect. (Thanks for the great effort Lads)

Yesterday, my friend and colleague, Clare Davison visited Roseberry Academy.  Clare delivered a presentation on Health and Safety around our site and our work. 

As a favour to both me and the site team, we have asked the pupils to design a Health and Safety poster for our fencing.  We are really excited to see what the children come up with.  However I thought it would be useful to introduce our health and safety mascot, Dudly the elephant to you all, so you can help the pupils with their posters.

Here is a photo of me and my colleague Becky, with the lovely Dudley on one of our sites.  Dudley can just turn up at any time on one of our sites to carry out an inspection and check local children are being safe around our works. 

A big hint for all the pupils is; we love to see Dudley on our posters!!!

Hi everyone,

To keep you updated, our works are now complete on Newton Road, the two way traffic signal controls are to be removed at approx 3.00pm this afternoon.

Works on site are going very well at present, we have completed the 375 diameter underground trenchless drainage from our drive pit out into the manhole within the highway on Newton Road as above.

The new drainage network installation on site, within Cleveland Lodge are also going well, having installed 375 and 750 diameter concrete drainage along with the construction of new manholes from the first of our drive pits towards our second adjacent to Farm Garth, these works shall continue into next week.

The second of our underground trenchless works within the site curtilage heading towards the green belt adjacent to Farm Garth has also gone well this week with the pilot rods being accepted within the reception pit on Wednesday of this week, and we have further continued with the smaller auger boring works in preparation for the 750 diameter next week.

Hi There,

As part of our commitment to the welbeing of our workforce we organised a run up Roseberry Topping on Friday (some were more willing than others).  I have to say, what a beautiful area Great Ayton is.  Those walking the route were extremely friendly and encouraging on our run and we hope to encourage more local runs throughout the course of the project.  Hopefully I can get some more volunteers from site next time! Ha-ha.

Hi everyone,

First of all apologies for not updating on Friday last week as I said in my previous post, I was a little on the busy side , but please see below

Last week the underground auger boring operations commenced from our drive pit on site MHE4 towards existing MHE5 within the highway on Newton Road, by Friday evening the auguring works were complete with the sacrificial steel sleeve installed.

Works shall continue this week to install the actual drainage pipes through the steel sleeve and connect into the chamber within the highway as well as re bench the manhole chamber itself, this will complete the highway section of works and hopefully the two way traffic signal control lights will be no longer required and the highway shall then be re opened.

This week the underground auger boring rig shall be set up in the second of our drive pits to commence the works through from site into the green belt area adjacent to Farm Garth housing estate, will keep you up to speed on this operation.

I have attached a couple of photos to view, the first two photos are the first of our underground auger boring works which is 375mm in diameter from site out onto Newton Road and the second two are our next proposed 750mm diameter drive through to Farm Garth housing estate.

Hi everyone,

I have a quick update on progress for you as follows:-

This week we have concentrating on the excavation, shoring and concreting operations which include the thrust walls for the two drive pits for the proposed underground trench less sections of drainage, the first being from the site out onto the highway on Newton Road. (See attached photos) 

The above works shall require two way traffic signal control on Newton Road which has been planed in for Tuesday 26th February 19 for a period of approx two weeks, this will enable ourselves to make the new drainage network connection to the existing network within the highway.

I shall keep you updated next week regarding progress of the underground drilling operations.

It is a lovely day for the first day of the school holidays.  I hope everyone is making the most of the dry weather?

Our site team have developed a plan which shows the various stages of our work.  This plan shows the areas we will be working, and approximate dates, which are subject to change.  Where it states 'rolling road closure', this means we will be closing short sections of road at a time.  These sections have not yet been decided, and we will write or speak to you prior to arriving in your road.  We would hope to give residents a weeks notice, where possible, before moving to each section.

Please remember this plan is just an indication of our works, the dates are subject to change.  Feel free to contact me to discuss further.
