Ryhope Service Reservoir Refurbishment

Maintenance works are being carried out to the service reservoir located on the grounds of the Ryhope Pumping Station. This is an underground tank and works will be completed to both the outside and inside of the structure to ensure the supplies of Water coming from this asset are kept to the highest standard for years to come.

Good morning all, Keith from The Ryhope Engines Museum has kindly sent over some images from when the roof was installed in 1959 as shown below. Its fair to say that working conditions and health and safety have improved in the last 60 years! If you havent had a chance to visit the Engine Museum then it is well worth a visit as Keith and his team maintain the engines in perfect working order and have them running during their open days (Obviously the museum is closed at present due to Covid 19).
