GENERAL PROJECT

Sharpness Point Rising Main

Working with our framework partners, Esh-Stantec, Northumbrian water will be carrying out work to replace a failing pumping main from Sharpness Point Pumping Station to Percy Park, Tynemouth.

Planned Work

The planned work comprises of approximately 450 metres of new rising main (pressurised) sewer 150mm diameter pipe from Sharpness Point Pumping Station and reconnecting into the existing main at Percy Park. The route will mainly be located within road but will include some work in the grassed areas where the pipe connects at Sharpness Point Pumping Station and in Percy Park. The new main will be constructed by excavating a series of opencut trenches to install the new pipe. When pipeline cross side roads and accesses in the highway the contractor is likely to be cross in two halves to ensure access is maintained at all times. We would notify you in advance of the work if you will be directly affected.

Pipeline construction is estimated to commence in April 2022.
