Sunderland Bridge STW Transfer Works

We are investing £2.5 million to ensure the sewer network continues to serve the community effectively in the future; reducing the risk of flooding and pollution in the Sunderland Bridge and Croxdale area. Our partners, ESH Stantec will be undertaking the work on our behalf beginning on 27 September 2021 and will last until 26 April 2022.

This week we have continued with the installation of the new concrete hard standings/access slabs, which are ongoing and will continue into next week followed by reduced level excavation around the new structures/assets and the installation of subsoil/Topsoil and fencing reinstatements over the next couple of weeks .

During the course of this week we have had the temporary site compound Offices & welfare units removed from site as well as modifying the temporary fencing dismantling the solid hoardings fencing ready to be moved off site, we are getting the area ready for reinstatements  such as the removal of the stone from the compound area which shall be followed by the spreading of the stockpiled topsoil then cultivating/seeding/fencing over the forth coming weeks.

We have the installation of the new replacement Guard/Handrail organised for Monday 23rd May 2022 which will be carried out over approx 3 to 4 days (Further information to be issued by letter).

Have a lovely weekend
