GENERAL PROJECT

Sunderland Bridge STW Transfer Works

We are investing £2.5 million to ensure the sewer network continues to serve the community effectively in the future; reducing the risk of flooding and pollution in the Sunderland Bridge and Croxdale area. Our partners, ESH Stantec will be undertaking the work on our behalf beginning on 27 September 2021 and will last until 26 April 2022.

Planned Work

Our construction works with involve the installation of a Sewerage Pumping Station (SPS) at Sunderland Bridge Sewerage Treatment Works (STW) and approximately 1.6 Km of new rising main South along the A167 and then along Front Street Croxdale to transfer flows to an existing SPS in Croxdale on Chair Lane.  There will be some alterations to the pumps in Croxdale SPS as well as works to abandon the STW at Sunderland Bridge.

Traffic management will be necessary on the A167 road and the B2688 for the main part of the works to ensure that the work can be carried out safely, although this won’t happen until October 2021.
