Sunderland Strategic Transport Corridor (Phase 3)

Northumbrian Water is planning to carry out water and waste-water diversions and modifications of our network in advance of the Sunderland Strategic Transport Corridor Phase 3. The new dual carriageway which is planned to start in the Summer of 2019, will link the new south side road infrastructure of the Northern Spire bridge to A183 St Mary's Boulevard - A1231 St Michael's Way roundabout. Our supply partners, Esh-MWH will be undertaking this works on our behalf.

Update by Dave Eden

Hi all.

First of all apologies for the lack of updates recently. Mark has moved on to another position so I've taken over these updates moving forwards.

After some issues recently we are currently making good progress:

Farringdon Row.

We have three way lights in place on Farringdon Row behind Currys, Halford, B&Q. etc. These have been on much longer than intended whilst we ensured that no business lost supply in the change over to the new water main. The issues have been ironed out now and we hope to remove the traffic lights by end of work Friday, if not then early next week.

Hannover Place.

I'm happy to report that the vast majority of the traffic management has been removed and the road was opened as of Friday 18/10/19. The is still an area fenced off outside the Saltgrass but this is passable with care. There will be some private connections to do in the upcoming weeks but these should have minimum impact. The will also need to be a further visit for resurfacing in some areas but this will be very short term.

Deptford Terrace

We are carrying out some further work on Deptford Terrace near the Bus Depot which has required us to close one lane under 2-way traffic lights. We also have an excavation open outside the bus depot entrance but this is passable in both directions. We expect this work to last a further 3 weeks.

I've also added a few photos for those who're interested.

Thanks

Dave Eden
