Tyneside Water Main Cleaning

Our water mains cleaning programme of works has been ongoing now for five years and to date, we have achieved 221km of cleaning works to our mains. There are a number of pipe sections that we still need to clean, with a total length of 9.0km. We are starting this work in August 2018 and anticipate completion in the Summer 2019.

Update by Kevin McGargle

Good Afternoon

Just a brief update with regards our works in Killingworth on Great Lime Road, works are now ongoing at the Wheatsheaf Pub roundabout on the existing water main, we will be visible in this area until approximately Friday 19th of July 2019, today we poured the thrust block concrete for the linestop, this will allow us to stop flows whilst we cut and cap end the abandoned section from the live network.

Whilst this concrete achieves its strength we will be working near the working mens club near Forest Hall Road to remove abandoned covers and frames in the road tomorrow and thursday.

As the works proceed i will update you further.

Kind Regards

Kevin McGargle
