Tyneside Water Main Cleaning

Our water mains cleaning programme of works has been ongoing now for five years and to date, we have achieved 221km of cleaning works to our mains. There are a number of pipe sections that we still need to clean, with a total length of 9.0km. We are starting this work in August 2018 and anticipate completion in the Summer 2019.

Update by Kevin McGargle

Good Morning

Just thought i would give you a brief update on the works to Great Lime Road Killingworth as below:-

Last night (Sunday 4th August 2019) we commenced works on Holystone way to cut and cap the existing water main from the abandoned section, this was done within a road closure, we will be opening the carriageway daily at 6am with the exception to HGV's which will still follow the diversion route, we will be completed in this area by Friday 9th August 2019 at 6am.

At the West End of Great Lime Road at the roundabout of Southgate and Great Lime Road we are planning evening surfacing works to reinstate the carriageway under 4 way lights, this is being done out of ours to minimise the impact to traffic.

I will keep you further updated as the works proceed.

Kind Regards

Kevin McGargle
