Tyneside Water Main Cleaning

Our water mains cleaning programme of works has been ongoing now for five years and to date, we have achieved 221km of cleaning works to our mains. There are a number of pipe sections that we still need to clean, with a total length of 9.0km. We are starting this work in August 2018 and anticipate completion in the Apri 2021.

Planned work

Fastflow (FPS) will be starting on their first site location on Church Bank/Tynemouth Road  A193. This work will start on Monday 6 August 2018 and should be completed by Friday 21 September 2018. It will be necessary to have temporary three way traffic lights in place near to the junction of Denbigh Avenue and Church Bank intermittently for up to three weeks while we upgrade our water main.

Then FPS will continue on to undertake the six site locations, one after the other in this order:

Church Bank/Tynemouth Road A193, Walker

Heaton Road, Heaton

Dalton Street, Byker

Lobley Hill Road, Gateshead

Shields Road, Byker

West Road, Fenham

As the site locations progress our teams at Fastflow & MMB will be posting information regularly to keep you informed on exact start dates and progress of these other site locations.

Thank you in advance for your patience while this essential work is carried out. We will endeavour to work as flexibly as possible (extended hours, nights and weekends if needed) to keep disruption to a minimum.
