Wapping Burn Rising Main Replacement

Northumbrian Water are working with communities to proactively manage flood and pollution risk. We are committed to providing a high quality service and have identified an opportunity to improve our sewer network to reduce the risk of pollution events from the rising main which runs in close proximity to the Wapping Burn water course.

Traffic information

Our interactive map below shows where and when we'll be working in the highway and what impact this may have on road users.

Roadworks - Delays Unlikely

Side road leading to PremierTech and Icarus

When the works progress through the junction of the side road leading to Icarus and PremierTech with the new main, we will employ 3-way traffic lights on the highway. We expect these works to take approximately 1week. Once we reach the verge at the other side of the access road the traffic management will be removed. The road will be crossed in 2 halves to ensure access to businesses on the access road at all times.
