The construction phase of this project is now complete.

There may still be updates, so the project will remain here. We are still monitoring the project and will reply to any comments. So if you have any questions please feel free to comment or contact us here.

GENERAL PROJECT

Wellfield Rising Main

Looking after the environment and reducing the risk of pollution are two of our top priorities. As part of this commitment, and to help make Wellfield a great place to live, work and visit, we plan to invest within the sewerage network to upgrade our existing assets.

Project updates

Update by Gabrielle Ward

Good Afternoon,

I apologise it's been a while since our last update, however I wanted to share some good news with you all!

I am pleased to let you know, that our work in your area is almost finished. Next week, we will be connecting our new sewer into the existing network. Once connected we will then complete our permanent reinstatements as well as de-mobilising out of the site compound.

Please be aware, it will take a few weeks to de-mobilise the compound, and during this time there will be an increase of traffic coming to and from site. This includes large vehicles removing the site cabins. We would like to kindly remind you to keep safe by staying alert when you are in this area.

I will be posting more updates to keep you all in the loop of whats going on, on site. In the mean time, any questions you may have we will be happy to answer. Please feel free to leave a comment below.

Thank you all again for your continued patience.

Gaby

Update by Gabrielle Ward

Good Morning,

I wanted to post a quick update to let you know how work is currently progressing on site.

We have some good news! We are now carrying out the reinstatement work along Wellfield Road. Once the reinstatements are complete we will then be able to remove the traffic lights. On behalf of our project team, I would like to apologise for the delays causing the traffic lights being up longer than anticipated. However, we are close to the finishing line!

Once we have moved from Wellfield Road, we will then begin work along Edderacres Walk in the upcoming weeks. I will be posting more updates on this section of our work.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment below. We are always happy to help!

Have a good week everyone.

Update by Gabrielle Ward

Hi Everyone!

Just a quick update on what to expect over the upcoming weeks.

The next stage of our work is due to take place around Wednesday 25th August along Edderacres Walk footpath, and will take up to four weeks to complete.

We would like to make you aware that there will be two excavations either end of Edderacres walk, with the pipework fabricated above ground, along the length of the footpath. The pipework will be installed week commencing Monday 6th September by our contractor. I have added a plan below which includes our working area location.

Access along Edderacres Walk footpath will still be maintained, however if you are walking near our working area, we politely ask you to be extra vigilant and stay safe. Our working hours will be between 8am and 4pm Monday – Friday. During these hours, you may notice a slight increase in noise due to the nature of our work.

Our site team will be happy to help should you require any assistance. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment below or visit the "contact" link at the top of the page.

On behalf of the project team, we would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your continued patience and support during this essential work.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Gaby

Update by Gabrielle Ward

Good Afternoon,

I wanted to update you in regards to the traffic lights along Wellfield Road, The Maltings and High Grange Way.

Due to some delays with our excavation on Wellfield Road, we have had to implement an extension to the time scale for the duration of the traffic light system being in operation. We plan to have the lights removed around the time of Friday 27th August.

For safety purposes, we have included a "no right turn" as you leave The Maltings. We would like to reassure you that this is only temporary, and will be removed next week, once it is safe to do so. We apologise for the disruption the traffic lights may be causing, if you require any assistance please feel free to speak to our site team who are more than happy to help or if you have any questions, please leave a comment below.

As always, we are grateful for your patience and support during this time.

Speak soon,

Gaby

Hello,

I thought I would pop on and say hello, and post a quick update.

Most of you will be aware of the traffic lights along Wellfield Road North. I wanted to let you know that we have extended the original time-scale for the traffic lights to be in operation, which are now scheduled to be removed in 3 weeks time. We apologise for any further inconvenience this may cause, however the safety of the public, our site team and the community is our main priority.

In regards to the railway footpath, I am pleased to announce that this will be re-opened as of next week.

As always, if you have any questions regarding our work please leave a comment below or visit the "contact" link at the top of the page.

Thank you

Update by Gabrielle Ward

Hello,

Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to introudce myself. My name is Gaby, and I will be taking over the role as Customer Liaison Officer for this project.

As of next week, we will be introducing a four-way traffic management system along Wellfield Road for approximatley three weeks. The lights will be allocated along Wellfield Road and the junctions entering The Maltings and High Grange Way. I have added a plan below.
Due to the nature of our work, access to some driveways could be temporarily disrupted. If this is the case, a member of our team will come and discuss arrangements with you.

We appreciate the inconvenience this may cause, and we will do all we can to keep disruption to an absolute minimum.

If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment below.

On behalf of the Project Team, I would like to thank you for your continued patience and support during this essential work.

I hope you have a great weekend!

Update by Peter Greenan

Hi

I'm the Project Manager for this project and would like to update you on progress.  Our Framwork Partners MMB (Mott MacDonald Bentley) have completed site survey work and ground investigation to confirm a propoosed  route for the new rising main.  This option has been costed and we are currently reviewing this cost and confirming that this project meets Northumbrian Water's  current benefits criteria.  Once this is confirmed we can progress plans for the Detail Design and get a better idea the  likely construction dates which will hopefully commence in Spring 2021 and take an estimated 4 months.  I will update this page once there is something significant to report.  I hope this is OK for now but if not or you have any queries then please let us know.

Peter
