Looking after the environment and reducing the risk of pollution are two of our top priorities. As part of this commitment, and to help make Wellfield a great place to live, work and visit, we plan to invest within the sewerage network to upgrade our existing assets.
The current solution comprises the provision of approximately 430 metres of new rising main (pressurised) sewer 225mm diameter pipe from Wellfield Pumping Station to Edderacres Walk. The route will mainly be located in Public Highway including roads and footpath, crossing under the A181 and follow the old rail line before crossing Wellfield Road and along the footpath heading South to Edderacres Walk. The new main will be constructed in the majority by excavating a series of trenches at a nominal depth (i.e. 1.2 metres). To cross under the A181 it is planned to carry this out by directionally drilling underneath the embankment. When work is required in the road the contractor is likely to cross it in two halves to ensure access is maintained at all times. We would notify you in advance of the work if you will be directly affected.
Further survey work will likely be carried out in the next few weeks with pipeline construction estimated to commence in November 2020.
