Whitton Village Sewer Diversion

Northumbrian Water is looking to investing £2M to improve the resilience and enhance the performance of the sewer network in Whitton Village Northumberland.

Update by Ian Davison

Hi

I hope you all remain, well and are looking forward to the weekend. There has been quite a change in the weather in the last couple of weeks since our last update, hopefully the sun will return for the remainder of June and into the summer.

The construction of the new pumping station, rising main and gravity sewer is progressing well, and we are now in the position to move into the next phase of the work which is the installation of the rising main through the village. To minimise disruption, the rising main will be installed adopting trenchless construction techniques. Reception and drive pits will be established at suitable spacing within the village and the new pipework to be installed between these pits.

As Sarah mentioned in the update at the end of May a road closure is required to facilitate this work. The road through the village will be closed to through traffic for up to 10 weeks, Residents access will be maintained and every effort will be made to keep the disruption to a minimum.

This closure will be established week commencing 15 June. During the closure, diversion routes will be signposted with access for residents to be maintained throughout this phase of the works. The drive and reception pits will be sympathetically positioned to avoid driveways and their position may dictate the access route taken by the residents into the village.

I would like to thank you for your continued cooperation while we complete this essential work. It is greatly appreciated

Have a great weekend, stay safe.

Regards

Ian
