Update by Sarah Jayne Parvin

Good afternoon All, hope you are well. Its been some time since my last update, as you can imagine we have had plenty of activity during that time.

The Gravity sewer from tie in at the rear of Murray Gardens along Silverton Lane is progressing well its about 85% completed and we hope to have Silverton Lane open no later than the 30th October 2020.

All works are complete in Whitton Village and the road is re-opened. Silverton Lane remains closed at its eastern end.

Pumping Station works have commenced in field adjacent Whitton Bank Road. We will be back into Whitton Bank Road mid-October for a couple of weeks to connect the gravity sewer to the new pumping station shaft.

The team and I would like to thank you for your continued patience and understanding while we carry out these essential works.

Good Afternoon all,

We are making great progress, the Rising Main installation works now complete from Silverton Lane, over fields, through village and down Whitton Bank to pumping station location.

Preparation work has commenced and will continue through to the end of next week, to install the gravity sewer in Silverton Lane which will then connect into the existing network in Murray Gardens. The preparations include the relocation of some small tree’s, creation of an access gate, removal of the topsoil and delivering plant on site. On the 20th July we will then make a start on the drilling that starts in Murray Gardens.

The sewer installation will continue into Silverton Lane, which will be closed for up to 6 weeks. This is due to start around 5th August, the diversionary routes will be signposted. Resident’s access will be maintained to the properties within the road closure off Silverton Lane.

Also, the sheet piling contractor have installed a piled retaining wall at Sewage Pumping Station location, piles cropped to Whitton Bank profile, see picture below.

As works progress every effort will be made to keep the disruption to a minimum.

I have attached some photos for you to view.

I would like to thank you again for your continued cooperation while we complete this essential work.

Thanks

Sarah

Hi

Well since my last update the sun has returned, I hope you are all enjoying this great weather

We are continuing to make good progress and are planning the next phase of the work which is the installation of the gravity sewer in Silverton Lane connecting it into the existing network within Murray Gardens.

Work will commence in Murray Gardens on the 6th July working west through the farmland into Silverton Lane where the new rising main will be connected. For a short period access to the working area in the farmland will be via Murray Gardens, thereafter access into the farmland will be taken from a temporary field gate installed into the existing fence line. The new gravity pipe line will connect into the manhole in the highway to the rear of 13 – 17 Murray Gardens. The sewer will be installed through the parking area with resident access maintained at all times.

The sewer installation will continue into Silverton Lane which will be closed to through traffic for up to six weeks, the diversionary routes will be signposted. Resident’s access will be maintained to the properties within the road closure off Silverton Lane. The Silverton Lane road closure will not be implemented until the works currently underway in Whitton are complete.

As works progress every effort will be made to keep the disruption to a minimum. For your further information and perusal I attached the project schematic.

I would like to thank you again for your continued cooperation while we complete this essential work.

Stay Safe

Hi

I hope you all remain, well and are looking forward to the weekend. There has been quite a change in the weather in the last couple of weeks since our last update, hopefully the sun will return for the remainder of June and into the summer.

The construction of the new pumping station, rising main and gravity sewer is progressing well, and we are now in the position to move into the next phase of the work which is the installation of the rising main through the village. To minimise disruption, the rising main will be installed adopting trenchless construction techniques. Reception and drive pits will be established at suitable spacing within the village and the new pipework to be installed between these pits.

As Sarah mentioned in the update at the end of May a road closure is required to facilitate this work. The road through the village will be closed to through traffic for up to 10 weeks, Residents access will be maintained and every effort will be made to keep the disruption to a minimum.

This closure will be established week commencing 15 June. During the closure, diversion routes will be signposted with access for residents to be maintained throughout this phase of the works. The drive and reception pits will be sympathetically positioned to avoid driveways and their position may dictate the access route taken by the residents into the village.

I would like to thank you for your continued cooperation while we complete this essential work. It is greatly appreciated

Have a great weekend, stay safe.

Regards

Ian

atGood afternoon all, hope you are all enjoying the fantastic weather we have been blessed with this week. It’s been a couple of weeks since Ian provided you an update so thought I could let you know what we have achieve since then. The teams have been busy on Whitton bank and have now installed both pipelines, and we are currently on with building 2 manhole chambers on the bank. The traffic management on Whitton Bank will be removed toward the back end of next week.

Week commencing the 8th June we will be commencing work through Whitton Village on the hamlet for approximately 6 weeks which will involve a road closure, I have included a copy of the traffic management plan for your info. Please be assured access will be maintained for all residents in the area.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t  to comment below, alternatively you can use the contact us at the top of this page and one of the project team will be in contact.

Thanks

Hi

I hope you all remain well, I am sure you will have noticed a lot more activity on Whitton Bank last week. Here’s a quick note of progress on how the site team have been progressing.

The works are continuing as planned with the direction drillers onsite and the trenchless installation of the rising main and sewer underway. The rising main (pumped sewer) has been successfully installed between the top of the Bank and the new pumping station position in the field, the sewer is installed to its central point about half way down the bank. This week it is hoped to get the sewer down to the manhole position adjacent to the pumping station in the road and commence the construction of the manholes in Whitton Bank.

The contractor has continued to prepare the site compound and we hope to establish the remainder of the site cabins later in the week and remove the temporary set up from the riverside car park. In the field off Caterside Rd / Silverton Lane the drive and reception pits have been excavated for the directional drilling of the rising main and stock proof fencing erected to protect the animals from the working area. The rising main installation will commence on completion of the works on Whitton Bank.

I would like to thank you for you continued patience and understanding during these works, as always if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask.

Thanks

Ian

We will then move into our compound in the field adj to Whitton bank for the remainder over the coming weeks and will update you closer to the time.

Traffic management of a single lane closure will be put up on Whitton bank this week in preparation for the excavation of the launch/reception pits, where we will start the directional drilling along the bank. Hi

I hope you all remain well.

I thought I would take this opportunity to provide you with a look-ahead and more details with respect to the traffic managements proposed on Whitton Bank.

The main works will commence as planned on the 27th April. We have been working with our supply partner Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB) on alternative construction techniques. I can confirm that MMB will adopt a trenchless method of construction for both the rising main and gravity sewer on Whitton Bank. The pipe line's will be installed by directional drilling, a traditional open cut installation was initially proposed. Adopting this trenchless method of installation will result in a reduction in the time and disruption associated with this element of the work. We continue to work on the detail but it’s likely that there will be a drill pit about half way up the Bank, a pit in the field at the site of the SPS and one at the top of the bank on the junction. A single lane closure will be required around these pits with "smart" traffic lights utilised, these are radar activated and sense oncoming traffic switching accordingly if no queuing traffic in the opposite direction. The works on the Bank are scheduled to commence WC 4th May for approximately 6 weeks.

We will continue to monitor and follow UK Government guidance regarding the emerging situation of Covid-19. We are committed to the safeguarding and wellbeing of our operatives and customers, our staff are all maintaining a social distance of two metres and we ask that during this difficult time that you also maintain a social distance from our staff.

We will continue to update you all on how the works progress but in the meantime, please don't hesitate to contact me or Sarah if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks You

Ian
