NIDP FLOODING PROJECT

Berwick

We are currently undertaking a Stage Two Northumbria Integrated Drainage Partnership (NIDP) study in Berwick. Stage 2 is a diagnostic study where we carry out a more in depth survey, investigation and hydraulic model enhancement to address specific issues and develop opportunities at the top priority locations identified in stage 1. This includes option development and an assessment of cost of the proposed options. We then look at an assessment of benefits and beneficiaries to demonstrate the impact of the proposed project. If we are able to show that the project delivers an appropriate level of benefits ( i.e. it doesn’t cost more to construct than the value of the property that it protects) this enables us to make applications for joint funding to progress to design and construction.

Update by Gabrielle Ward

Good Morning,

Firstly, I would like to introduce myself. I am Gabrielle Ward (please feel free to call me Gaby), I am the MMB Customer Care Support for this project.

A Letter of Introduction was sent out this week explaining that we will be carrying out survey works around Berwick for the duration of the week commencing Monday 28th September. The survey works are being carried out to investigate proposals to reduce the flood risk in the area.

You may see our survey teams from MMB, Onsite and Castle Keep in the areas of Spittal, North Road and West End. I have attached a plan which shows the areas that we will be working.

We are currently following Government guidlines to keep our teams, customers and communities safe during our work. If you do see us and would like to pop and say hello, please feel free to do so. We just kindly ask that you keep a safe 2 metre distance. Our team will be happy to answer any questions that you may have.

In the meantime, if you do have any questions you would like to ask, please add a comment below or visit the "Contact" button at the top of the page.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this time, and I hope you all have a lovely weekend!
