GENERAL PROJECT

Bowburn STW Upgrade

As part of a £1 million scheme, we will be carrying out essential work to improve the performance of our Bowburn wastewater treatment works. The scheme will help to improve the water quality of Bowburn Beck, as well as the watercourses downstream. The main works are commencing in April 2024 and are due to be complete by September 2024.

Update by Dean Thompson

Hi everyone,

This is just a quick update to confirm that the main works will be commencing at Bowburn wasterwater treatment works today (Tuesday 2nd April 2024). This will entain a phased transfer from the current pernament dosing system to a temporary dosing system. The temporary dosing system will allow works to the pernament dosing system to ensure it is more robust and resilient, and be able to dose larger amounts of chemicals to achieve our tighter permit that will commence in December 2024.

We’d really like to hear your views on this essential work and how we can work with you to minimise any disruption you and your community may experience. If you have any queries or comments or would like to speak to someone from the project team please get in touch using the ‘Contact us’ button at the top of the page.
