GENERAL PROJECT

Carlton & Redmarshall Sewage Treatment Works upgrade

As part of the Water Industry National Environmental Programme (WINEP), we will be installing chemical dosing plant and other improvements to the treatment process to enable the site to meet the forthcoming Phosphorous discharge consent of 0.7 mg/l, which will apply from December 2024. The improvement works will cost around £3.4m and is one of 27 sites within the NWG region to receive this upgrade. Phosphorous is a nutrient and can cause algae to grow in watercourses, reducing biodiversity and river water quality.

Update by Sarah Jayne Parvin

Good afternoon, Since our last update, significant progress has been made across the site.

The MCC kiosk base slab has been cast, and the steel work for the Mecana base slab is ongoing. Excavation and temporary works for the Primary Settlement Tank (PST) have been installed, with 1100 tons of muck already shifted from the site. The Mecana base slab is set to be cast this week.

Additionally, the Tertiary Pumping Station has now been built. The MCC kiosk and Chemical Dosing kiosk are scheduled for delivery in the next month, with electrical works also set to commence.

If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment below, and a member of the project team will respond.
