GENERAL PROJECT

Carlton & Redmarshall Sewage Treatment Works upgrade

As part of the Water Industry National Environmental Programme (WINEP), we will be installing chemical dosing plant and other improvements to the treatment process to enable the site to meet the forthcoming Phosphorous discharge consent of 0.7 mg/l, which will apply from December 2024. The improvement works will cost around £3.4m and is one of 27 sites within the NWG region to receive this upgrade. Phosphorous is a nutrient and can cause algae to grow in watercourses, reducing biodiversity and river water quality.

Update by Bethany Oakley

Good afternoon,

I hope you’ve all had a great weekend.

Over the last few weeks, we have continued to make some great progress on the Treatment Works.

The existing sludge tank has been demolished and a new one is currently being constructed.

The concrete base has been poured for the Primary Settlement Tank and the wall is currently under construction.

We have also installed the new Sludge Tank Hopper Pipework.

I have also added some photos so that you can see the great work the Team have carried out.

As always, if you have any questions you’d like to ask us, please add these in the comment box below and a member of the Project Team will respond.

Speak soon!

Bethany
