GENERAL PROJECT

Carlton & Redmarshall Sewage Treatment Works upgrade

As part of the Water Industry National Environmental Programme (WINEP), we will be installing chemical dosing plant and other improvements to the treatment process to enable the site to meet the forthcoming Phosphorous discharge consent of 0.7 mg/l, which will apply from December 2024. The improvement works will cost around £3.4m and is one of 27 sites within the NWG region to receive this upgrade. Phosphorous is a nutrient and can cause algae to grow in watercourses, reducing biodiversity and river water quality.

Update by Bethany Oakley

Good morning all,

What we are planning and when

You may have noticed that our demobilisation has now been carried out of the Site compound howeer we do have some further works to carry out, to ensure the treatment process and Site always femains fully operational. The works will involve construction of two new underground storm tanks within the STW between Monday 21st October 2024 and Friday 10th January 2025.

Improvement work to the Sewage Treatment Works in your area

We want to let you know details of essential work we’ll be carrying out at Carlton and Redmarshall Sewage Treatment Works (STW) and outline what we are going to do to minimise any disruption to you. The location of the STW is outlined in the plan below.

How you will be affected and what we are going to do to help you

Please be assured that we will do our best to keep disruption to a minimum. Our planned work will take place within the boundary of the STW, which will remain fully operational so there’ll be no impact on the wastewater service we provide. You may notice an increase of construction traffic accessing our site via Whitton Village during the first week of our work, and the final week.

If you, or any family, friends or neighbours may require special assistance from us while we complete this work, please do let us know or if you have any questions or concerns regarding our work, please don't hesitate to add a comment in the box below and a member of the Project Team will respond to you.

Thank you in advance, for your cooperation and patience while we carry out this vital work.

Speak soon,

Bethany
