Crookhall Sewage Treatment Works – WINEP Phosphorous Removal

As part of the Water Industry National Environmental Programme (WINEP), we will be installing a chemical dosing plant (ferric sulphate and sodium hydroxide) to enable the site to meet the forthcoming phosphorous discharge consent of 0.9 mg/l, which will apply from April 2025. The improvement works will cost around £1.5m, and is one of 27 sites within the NWG region to receive this upgrade. Phosphorous is a nutrient and can cause algae to grow in watercourses, reducing biodiversity and river water quality. Our works will help to improve the quality of the downstream watercourses.

Good afternoon all, works are progressing well on site ground stabilisation works are complete and the concrete bases poured, this is where the dosing plant kiosks will be installed. We are almost ready for delivery of the kiosks on the 21st June.

In preparation for the delivery of these 4m wide kiosks, we need to carry out some work along the site access track. Which include tree pruning and temporarily relocation/removal of fence posts to give us the clearance required. This work will be carried out by our contractor Marleys on Monday 13 June.

On the day of delivery the kiosks will be traveling through Thomas Swans site so there is no requirement for vehicles to be moved of the roads surrounding the site access.
