GENERAL PROJECT

Grassholme Reservoir Safety

Together with our supply partners Esh Stantec we plan to carry out essential maintenance and improvement works to Grassholme reservoir over the next three years. These works are needed to ensure the resilience of the reservoir and improve its surrounding environment. During the work we will endeavour to keep disruption to a minimum and ensure residents and users of the reservoir area are not unduly inconvenienced. We'd really like to hear from you if you have any questions or comments so please get in touch using the 'Contact us' button at the top of the page or leave a comment below.

Update by Christine Taylor

Good afternoon,

May I take this opportunity to introduce Esh Stantec.  We are a supply partner for Northumbrian Water and will be taking over the works at Grassholme Reservoir from Interserve.

My name is Christine Taylor, I am the Customer Service Manager for Esh Stantec.  Myself and Amanda Hunt work hand in hand to ensure we engage with our customers and communities.  Our project team are now on site and I will be introducing some of the team over the next few week.

Our work which is led by my colleague, Andrew McKenna, Contracts Manager for Esh Stantec, is to carry out works to stabilise the slope of the Northern Embankment.  We will do this by constructing an engineered slope using materials excavated from elsewhere on the site. The work will also include the diversion of the watercourse through a 1 metre diameter temporary flume pipe.

The team have informed me they have two machines working on the north side of reservoir at the moment.  Over the upcoming weeks, our team will be carrying out fencing and drystone wall operations.  As the work progresses we will endeavour to keep you updated.

Can I take this opportunity to remind our customers that the construction site is a dangerous place, the general public are not permitted within our working area for their own safety.  If you have any concerns or queries, please contact us using the following options:

  • Comment on this post
  • Send a message via the 'Contact Us' option on the portal
  • Call 03457 171100 and a member of the project team will call you back

Have a lovely week and enjoy the sunshine, we will be back in touch soon.

Christine and Andrew
