Update by Christine Taylor
Good afternoon,
Further to our photos last week, the site team have sent over information of the works they have carried out to date, detailed below.
- Completion of installation of temporary diversion drainage and construction of temporary headwall structures. Pipework laid adjacent to existing Carl Beck Watercourse. Works are then required to transfer Carl Beck Watercourse into a temporary 1.0m diameter pipe. This allows existing watercourse to be kept flowing while embankment stabilisation works are undertaken between July – October. Fish rescue carried out to relocate fish population from area of Beck to be diverted.
- Careful removal of existing Beck base material (river bed rocks). Material lifted, transported and stored for eventual re-use in the re-aligned beck.
- Processing of existing excavated materials in borrow pit area. Earthworks contractor then loading, transporting and placing suitable processed material to fill area of removed beck.
- Translocating of mature trees from Reservoir Embankment to Prepared pits on Northern Embankment to maintain mature woodland environment.
- Preparation for installation of Legato Concrete Blocks to be used to assist with slope stabilisation of Reservoir Embankment.
As always, please get in touch if you require any further information.
