GENERAL PROJECT

Grassholme Reservoir Safety

Together with our supply partners Esh Stantec we plan to carry out essential maintenance and improvement works to Grassholme reservoir over the next three years. These works are needed to ensure the resilience of the reservoir and improve its surrounding environment. During the work we will endeavour to keep disruption to a minimum and ensure residents and users of the reservoir area are not unduly inconvenienced. We'd really like to hear from you if you have any questions or comments so please get in touch using the 'Contact us' button at the top of the page or leave a comment below.

Grassholme Reservoir

Teasdale has 7 large impounding reservoirs. Cow Green Reservoir sits at the head of the River Tees. Selset and Grassholme Reservoirs are situated in the Lune valley. Balderhead, Blackton and Hury Reservoirs are in an adjacent Balder valley. The Lune and Balder valley reservoirs feed water for treatment to Lartington Water Treatment Works.

Grassholme is firmly established as one of the top any method fisheries in the country, lying in the picturesque rolling pasture land of upper Teesdale. Grassholme Reservoir is an impounding reservoir that is located about 3km to the south of Middelton-in-Teesdale and immediately downstream of Selset Reservoir.  With four miles of bank space and many inlets and bays it offers a great variety of fishing. Grassholme is suitable for disabled anglers and visitors.

On site we have an excellent lodge shop stocked with everything you need for a day’s fishing including rods, reels, tackle, accessories, clothing, worms, bait, ice creams and refreshments including hot and cold drinks. Environment Agency rod licenses are also on sale at this fishery.

Grassholme leisure link

There is a circular footpath around the lake providing magnificent views across the water and a pleasant picnicking area next to the visitor centre for you to relax. Grassholme is also home to Teesdale Sailing and Water sports Club. The club is a community sailing and water sports club and a registered charity.
