GENERAL WASTEWATER

Mickleton STW Minor Works

We need to carry out some essential works which will improve the treatment process and help ensure that the site always remains fully operational. The works will involve repair and refurbishment works to the STW between January 2024 and July 2024. Before the works commence, we need to carry out vegetation clearance in preparation for the construction work, as well as needing to set up temporary treatment units and pumps to allow us to undertake this work.

Update by Christopher Bond

Hi everyone

To introduce myself, my name is Chris Bond and im a project manager for Northumbrian Water. You will shortly receive a posted letter detailing essential works which are being undertaken at the Sewerage Treatment Works (STW) in Mickleton.

What we are planning and when

We need to carry out some essential works which will improve the treatment process and help ensure that the site always remains fully operational. The works will involve repair and refurbishment works to the STW from Spring 2024 and will take up to five weeks to complete. Before the works commence, we need to carry out vegetation clearance in preparation for the construction work, as well as needing to set up temporary treatment units and pumps to allow us to undertake this work. The temporary treatment units and pumps will be on site from January 2024 until July 2024. You can find out more information, including planned dates on our community portal by visiting www.nwlcommunityportal.co.uk and follow the link to the ‘Mickleton STW Minor Works’ page.

How you will be affected and what we are going to do to help you

The STW will remain fully operational so there’ll be no impact on the wastewater service we provide. You may notice some noise during this period while this is underway, although we have tried to keep this to a minimum by using a hybrid generator system which will run off battery power around 80% of the time and only use diesel to recharge the battery. Construction traffic will need access to the STW, so you may see an increase in vehicles utilising the access track to site.

We will continue to update you on the progress and works on site as we go forward, howoever if you would like to speak to a member of our Project Team in the meantime, you can telephone our customer contact centre on 0345 717 1100 or tweet us @nwater_care, or message on this portal. Whichever way is best, we’d really like to hear from you.

Thank you
