GENERAL PROJECT

Slaley WINEP P & Improvements

As part of the Water Industry National Environmental Programme (WINEP), we will be installing a new chemical dosing plant (electro coagulation) and replacing parts of the existing treatment process to enable the site to meet the forthcoming phosphorous discharge consent of 0.7 mg/l, which will apply from December 2024. The improvement works will cost £5M and is one of 27 sites within the NWG region to receive this upgrade. Phosphorous is a nutrient and can cause algae to grow in watercourses, reducing biodiversity and river water quality.

Update by Julie Oakley

Good afternoon,

I hope you all have had a lovely Bank Holiday weekend and are looking forward to the next one, I thought I would just touch base with an update on the progress of the project here at Slaley.

We are planning some “head start” works from 20th May – setting up and preparing the farmers field for our compound, cabins and parking. You will notice there is more traffic than normal over the first few weeks this is just until we have the site up and running.

In the meantime if you have any questions or concerns please leave a comment below or contact us on the details provided.

thanks for your patience

Julie
