GENERAL PROJECT

Slaley WINEP P & Improvements

As part of the Water Industry National Environmental Programme (WINEP), we will be installing a new chemical dosing plant (electro coagulation) and replacing parts of the existing treatment process to enable the site to meet the forthcoming phosphorous discharge consent of 0.7 mg/l, which will apply from December 2024. The improvement works will cost £5M and is one of 27 sites within the NWG region to receive this upgrade. Phosphorous is a nutrient and can cause algae to grow in watercourses, reducing biodiversity and river water quality.

Update by Julie Oakley

Hi All,

hope you are all doing OK, especially with the all the rain we have been having,

Its been a while since I put on a progress report of how we are getting on with upgrading of the treatment works in your area. Since the last update we have removed the old boundary fence on the western side and replaced with new stock-proof fencing and with the extra space we have created a stone access road into site. We have now got the Motor Control Centre (MMC) precast units installed and backfilled, we have also cast the concrete base slab for the Soneco unit which is a chemical free wastewater filtration method. Work to demolish disused features of the site are continuing and new ducting is being installed. Next week we will see the Northern Power Grid (NPG) kiosk being delivered and the Motor Control Centre (MCC) slab constructed.

We would like to thank you for all your continued support and patience while the works progress.

If you have any questions or queries please feel free to leave a comment below or use the contact details provided to get in touch.

Thank you

Julie
