GENERAL PROJECT

WINEP Durham Transfer

As part of an £10 million scheme, Northumbrian Water will be carrying out essential works to improve the performance and flexibility of our wastewater network and wastewater treatment works in the Plawsworth, Pity Me and Brasside areas of County Durham. The scheme will help to improve the water quality of the Blackdene Burn for the benefit of people, the environment and wildlife and ensure that critical wastewater assets continue to serve the community effectively.

Update by Rachel Rutter

Good morning,

Within Northumbrian Water areas the new flow meter chamber construction is complete. The Rising main pipework has been installed and the drainage outlet pipework from the flow meter chamber to wet well chamber has been completed.

Reinstatement of topsoil is underway, and you may have seen is partially complete. ESH have also completed the removal of timber bog mats and a partial reinstatement of fields within the easement area. Topsoil remains to be stone-picked and rotavated prior to seeding works commencing. Remedial works to benching within the wet well chamber is ongoing.

Air valve and washout chambers are nearing completion, while waiting for a suitable weather window to reinstate fields and topsoil.

Over the next week you may see the team are working close to Chester Low Road while a new manhole is being constructed.

Thank you for your time and have a wonderful weekend!
